Fasting

I am starting to try and do 12-14 hour fasting. My last meal is at night before 7pm and then I do not eat again until 7am the next day at the earliest. Today I made it to 9am. Then I came up on a thread talking about the benefits of eating cottage cheese before bed. I would love a late night snack but do not want it to slow my progress down. I am trying to lose about 70lbs.

Is intermittent fasting good or is it better to eat something like cottage cheese or protein drink before bed?
