To give context, I am 6’2 and weigh 195 lb. I started eating at a deficit of 500 calories a day a week ago and am already getting impatient and have no motivation to continue. The reason why I started a cutting cycle is I feel like I’m carrying too much body fat right now to continue bulking, especially around my midsection. I really don’t want t be cutting because I don’t want to be skinnier than I am, but I feel like it’s a necessity so I can ultimately get to my goal weight of a lean 210-215 lb. I don’t need to be absolutely ripped at 210-215 lb, but would like to be lean. My profile picture is an accurate picture of how I look currently.
The problem I’m having is I feel like I’m treading water. I haven’t noticed any significant change in my body using cutting and bulking cycles over the last year or so, and I’ve been lifting for years, so a recomp wouldn’t work for me. I feel like cutting and bulking cycles are one step forward two steps back for me and that a recomp would be equally as pointless.
