So this might not seem like a big problem, but I can't ever remember ever really feeling hungry. We always ate well growing up and although there were treats around my mom always made nutritious meals, made sure I ate and had lots of healthy food around. I was also very active, dancing and playing sport. I was never very thin, I certainly had fat and enjoyed treats but I was generally healthy.
It didn't become a problem until I started living alone, I was in university, had my own place, and slept odd hours. I would sometimes stay up all night doing homework and sleep during the day, basically, every day was different. I didn't have a set schedule so I wasn't thinking "this is the time that I should be eating." What would usually happen is I would start to feel a *little* shaky or weak, and I'd realize that I hadn't eaten in over 72 hours. This wasn't me trying to lose weight, take control, punish myself, getting depressed or any other mental obstacle. I would genuinely forget.
So fast forward 2 years, I've gotten a lot better at eating and by that, I mean that I try to remember to eat something every day. I try to eat as much as the people around me are, (sometimes it would be hard and I'd be in pain after eating too much, so I stop when there's resistance now.) I've gone from 5'2" ~135lbs to 160lbs. Whoops. That's not muscle because I was not very active.
I am now trying to lose weight and I'm using my fitbit to do so. It's recommending that I eat at a 1000 calorie deficit but I'm still eating what I regularly would and I am apparently undereating basically every day. I don't want to mess up my set weight and metabolism by undereating but I also don't want to force myself to overeat.
I've never seen a doctor about this problem but any advice or resources would be appreciated.
TLDR: I don't feel hunger and I'm trying to lose weight in a healthy way. How do I know I'm eating the right amount?
