I want to be healthier

Okay, so first off, I have basic caveman knowledge of most things gym, and nutrition but nowhere near enough to actually progress somewhere so I'm here trying to learn what I'm missing.
I'm a 134 pound, 5"10" 17 year old, not very active but still pretty athletic, I have crazy fat burning genetics so unfortunately I can get away with eating whatever I want and I know that eventually, that's gonna catch up with me so I want to fix those habits early on in life.
In combination with a basic meal plan, I want to do some intermediate strength/flexibility training because I do karate and I thought the conditioning would be helpful.
That being said, what should I be eating in conjunction with a workout along the lines I mentioned? Also, I'm trying to gain some weight, am I going to achieve that mainly through what I eat or the workouts?
