So, I had a peeled grapefruit that I chose not to eat, so I weighed it and subtracted the resultant 172 g from my totals. I put it in the refrigerator overnight, and today when I weighed it, it was 157 g. So, do I enter it as 157 g or 172 g? When the water evaporated, did it also lose the calories and macros, or did they simply become more concentrated in the food?
Likewise, when food gains water, do you count the extra water weight? For example, I had a bell pepper in the refrigerator that became slightly old, but not spoiled. The fruit was still mostly solid, but a little mushy in a few spots. I always subtract 2-5 g from the total weight to account for the added water (?) but still eat the mushy parts.
Or when I have frozen blueberries that sit and defrost in the refrigerator, I subtract some weight from the total because I know some of that was just ice that had formed when they froze, and water has no calories. Is this correct?
