If so is a clean bulk (around 300 cals over maintenance) or a dirty bulk (500+ cals over maintenance) better? If I decide to bulk I will do so next fall as it is too late now to get cut for summer.
Back to the main question, can you really not gain any muscle without being in a surplus? I feel like as long as you eat protein and workout your body will rebuild the muscle and you will become stronger/bigger. Thoughts?
And would a bulk going from September to New Years followed by a cut until summer be enough time?
