How much do you lady lifters eat?

My (male) trainer keeps insisting I'm not eating enough calories to build muscle. I am 5'6" and 126 lbs, currently eating around 2200-2300 calories a day, and I lift pretty intensely 3 days a week and do light (~20-40 min) of cardio or Oly lifting on off days. I feel like I am already eating a ton, but my lifts are stalling ... I am also concerned about gaining too much fat, as I would like to keep my bf% below 20% (currently sitting around 17-18% at my estimate). Any ladies have feedback? How much food is enough for a woman of my size?
