Would you consider whey powder to be acceptably vegetarian?

I know it's not strictly vegan, but it's also not the consumption of an animal which died to yield the food, so, what do you think?

The reason is that I'm considering experimenting and going borderline if not totally vegan for only a few weeks, just for the challenge and to see what it's like having to live like that. I'm out of groceries except for my whey powder though, and I think that would be kind of a waste not to use. Unless I buy some kind of vegan powder separately, it's going to be hard to get enough protein this way, otherwise.

This will be a specific form of the mini-cut I was planning to take anyway. Going full vegan (with a possible whey exception) for a few weeks seems a great specific way to go about it, all novelty of the experience aside.

But out of curiosity, do you think that it would be cheating the experiment to use protein powder? Really going to be hard to get enough in otherwise.

Bulking when overweight?

So I ended up losing 45 pounds and got to 165 from 210. I’m 5’9 and weight around 180 now. I ended up binging a whole lot because honestly I’m not very stable mentally but I’m trying my best with the cards I’ve been given. I’m schizophrenic and not functional. I wanted to take a break from cutting because maybe I’m feeling mentally exhausted from cutting for a year and also all the hunger from meds make bulking seem that much more appealable to me.

I gained strength with the about 15 pounds I gained in 2 months and my lifts went like this

Bench 180lbs 3x5 to 195lbs 3x5
Squat 235lbs 3x5 to 255lbs 3x5
Deadlift 265lbs 3x5 to 305lbs 3x5

I know it’s not ideal but I also have low testosterone and I’m very tired all the time. Like seriously medicated and fatigued so I’m glad I’m even trying to get in shape.

My question is simple, should I bulk even thought I’m overweight because of the gaining strength aspect of it and enjoy feeling stronger, bigger and gain more muscle mass OR should I wait for the mass until I cut to a leaner body?

I’m willing to cut - And I probably should but just needed an opinion if there’s any reason I could/should bulk considering my lifts aren’t that high?

Sorry it’s a little long but I learned a lot from these forums and respect all of your opinions so I wanted to be thorough.

Nutrition while backpacking

I love backpacking. This summer a friend and I are planning to go through Italy. While it's a very rewarding way of traveling, it's also very demanding physically, as you are all day in the sun walking, with some kgs on your back.

This consumes many calories, and you often can't eat as much as you do at home.

Do you have any recommendations on which type of food or supplements, that weight as little as possible, I can take to make it without losing muscle?

My idea was to take protein bars and dried fruits (peanuts and such). I suppose that as long as you stay hydrated, and consume the require calories and proteins everything should be alright.

Hormones recovering after cutting

Hey guys so been bulking for 7 months now going to cut very soon.

I just wanted to know after my cutting phase (probs 2 months length) can my hormones recover from just eating my maintenance calories? Or do I need to eat my maintenance calories first, then bulk for my hormones to recover 100%?

I’m thinking if my cut is 2 months, then go into maintenance for a month my hormones and energy will restore back to normal?

If someone can shed sone light on this for me I’ll be entirely grateful :). Thanks peeps.

She's eating 1500 calories a day and 150 grams of protein - her daily maintenance is around 2500 based on online calculators.

Her diet is fool proof. She eats 2 meals a day of about 600 calories each and 1 snack. It's all high protein, low carb, veggies, fruits, etc.......

She's been doing this for 3 months with no results...she's actually gained weight

She did a full blood test/health test and everything was fine

How passively hungry are those of you in the ~12-18% BF range?

Since this is generally the ideal healthy range to aim for, I'm curious how hungry those of you within it tend to be on a passive, day to day basis. Hunger while cutting down to it would make sense as a given, but to those of you who are maintaining this level, do you find that you are often still hungry after meals or at random intervals throughout the day?

If this is supposed to be a healthy target, I wonder how prevalent hunger is within it. Being constantly "full" may not be the intended design for our biology, anyway.

Ckd carb cycling

Hello all, i want to ask a couple of questions regarding ckd and carb cycling. Im currently 80kg 180cm around 10-12% bf. I work Out 5-6 per week and i also do 3-5 carbio. Fasted in the morning or after weights. Im currently at 2000 calories. I used a keto diet for 2 months. Pretty impressive results but i want to change it. My question is should i go ckd(6 days with 35-40protein 55-60 fats 5 carbs and on my rest day (sunday switch fats to carbs? And if yes i go 35-40prot 55-60 carbs 5-10 fats?) can this work, especially since it ill be on my rest day, meaning no workout or work or any activity.?
Also was thinking in starting carb cycling what split would you suggest for a more agressive form? (also 2000 calories) 3-4 low carbdays with 10-155carb 35-40 prot 45-50 fat and 1 35-40prot 45-50 carb 15-20 fats?
Thank you in advance

Please help!!!

I’m so lost and don’t know what to do. Can some please teach me how to get my total calories needed. Something that has worked for them. There is so many different ways and I’m getting so confused. BMR, TDEE, include your workout calories, don’t include those calories. I don’t even know which way is up. Some days I’ll track consecutively and then think I’m eating too much. If someone can teach me a way that has worked for them. I would be greatly appreciative!

Caffeine Calculator

I was trying to find out my daily caffeine intake and found this caffeine calculator

Here’s how it works:

1. Take your body weight (Let’s say 220 lbs)
2. Divide that number by 2.2 (220 / 2.2 = 100)
3. Take the number found in step 2 above, and multiply it by 3 (100 x 3 = 300)
4. This number is the maximum amount of caffeine in milligrams that you should consume.

So in this case, our calculator shows that if you’re 220lbs, you should not be drinking more than 300mg of caffeine per day.

Right??!
