Metabolism Revamp Post Alcohol?

In my 20s I didn't seem to have an issue drinking and keeping fit, but now that I'm in my 30s it seems nearly impossible. Seems to have all started since quarantine and the lockdowns where i had no gym to go to. I spent a lot of time drinking and just "hanging out", because that's about all we had to do. I just recently cut way down on the drinking but cant seem to get any weight off. I'm not sure if there is a way to shock my system into functioning correctly post alcohol, or if it will just take more time than I've been previously used to. At this point its been 3 weeks, in a calorie deficit, and I'm not seeing any headway on the scale or in the mirror. Did the years of drinking have this much of an effect on my metabolism or am I just impatient?

Thoughts appreciated.

Does lean pork have less fat weight than lean beef?

Meatwise, I've been eating beef. That is, bovine muscle as clean of visible fat as I can manage. For my macro/caloric calculations, I've been using 25% protein & 8% fat by weight for bovine muscle.

Anyway, now I'm looking at incorporating some pork muscle into my diet and I'm stumbling at the data I find: around 21.5% protein & 5.7% fat at most. Some claim as low as 4%.

So is this correct? Is pork muscle less fatty than bovine one by weight? (Raw meat for all values).

Looking for help in protein powder research for follow up video

I'm hoping people on here can help me? And save me spending thousands of pounds to find out - how common this practice is???

I dropped a YouTube video, it is about a 'serious' subject - although the video has a lot of silliness in it.

https://youtu.be/aFOo5Ja8Iqg

The video is about a Protein Powder Company ‘scam’ that I have never seen mentioned or reported before – so this is NOT the old usual ‘spiking’, or bad doses, or false/unproven claims. That from time to time has been levelled at certain companies powders.

I realise [what I 'found out'] may not have been reported on much/at all before – as nobody really cares about this [except for me, hmm]... so I do acknowledge it's not some massive scandal - and most people may not care... I do, and I see it as sneaky...

I was hoping some of you could track how many scoops you actually get from your protein powders?

I just need over the next few months for you to count each scoop you get – and see what the total is, against what the box says it should be.

You’d have to have the drinks as per the label. So, level/heaped/etc scoop - as per the label. And would have to use the scoop provided. Then let me know: the product, the number on the box and how many drinks you actually got.

I can’t afford to check loads of different powders – so it would be an amazing help.

The original video goes into depth about the company/product I use… the style of the video [and the channel] is to mix the serious with the silly. It’s meant to be funny, but probably not to everyone’s [anyone’s?] taste.

Thanks for any help... you are literally saving me thousands of pounds

And I am not out - to 'destroy' any company... I think the video is very fair - and my review of the product itself honest

x

Does the 2000 calorie daily recommendation account for the prevalence of obesity?

Almost everyone would swiftly lose weight with this daily allowance, even with a sedentary lifestyle. Almost everyone also eats well above this amount anyway.

So, does the recommendation deliberately factor in what in many cases would be a huge caloric deficit in an endeavor to combat the obesity epidemic, or is it a sincere generalized estimation of what would be a break-even amount, accounting for females, the elderly, the inactive, etc.? After all, physical activity is also recommended, so one would assume that it is already implicitly relevant to dietary recommendations as well.
