I’ve been in a calorie deficit to cut weight for about 6 weeks. I’m typically coming in between 600-1200 calories below maintenance per day. My question is how long can you stay at a calorie deficit before your body begins to adapt to it by slowing your metabolism to accommodate? My hope is to be able to regulate my calories between maintenance and deficit until I reach my weight goal but need to understand the effects of these swings on the metabolic rate and timing that change comes with. Any true experience related knowledge on this topic is greatly appreciated. This thread could be a great discussion medium for BMR fluctuations and effects of calorie deficit on the body.
