Hello everyone,


I'm an expat living and teaching in China. Going food shopping is a real brain buster for me. Since Whey protein is ridiculous expensive, I still can enjoy many plant based proteins.
I will buy dried soybeans and make myself soymilk, and other drinks.

I'm 40 years old, 183 cm and 86 kg. The BMI shows I'm overweight. I want to cut to 80 kg, or any recommendation can be helpful. I would need about 180 g of protein.


How much grams of soybeans I will need to mimic 1 scoop of Whey protein or is it recommended to take extra proteins while cutting? I'm afraid I may be overdoing doing it because of the extra calories. It may be putting me over daily calorie intake.

So I'm 135lbs 5'11 14% body fat and I'm wondering if 2800 calories is enough to put on 1 pound a week. Good afternoon, I always read that carbs are essential in bulking to maximize lean mass gain, not to say it is essential to gain but to maximize gain, yes. I saw several places advise bulking to use 4gr to 6gr per kg of carbs but I notice that I have a lot of sensitivity to carbs and I retain a lot of water with that amount. What I wanted to know is if I limit it to 200-250 carbs a day, I notice an improvement in definition and the strength remains good, with that amount wouldn’t maximize the lean mass gain? Would you gain more lean mass if you use 4gr per kg?

Looking for insight on cutting diet roadblock

Unsure if this is against the rules, but hoping for some explanation or insight because Google is driving me mad and the quote I got from a nutritionist/meal planner was $300 a month.
Here are some facts before I explain: 5'10, 194, 25 years of age w/ the goal of cutting weight. I set my BMR as 1,858 and 2415 as my maintenance given my activity level. My diet has me at 2,133 calories. I started my cut a month ago staying pretty close to 2,133 calories w/ a form of HIIT or LISS following my PUSH, PULL, LEG workout plan. I started my cut with creatine at 184 lbs. At this point, you may already see why I am here.

**I usually burn from 130 - 200 calories during my cardio sessions **

I started w/ creatine mono to use during a cut as an extra layer of protection for muscle retention as I lose weight -- as advised by many to stay on creatine mono during a cut. I have seen gains, 15 lbs plus on most exercises since diet/workout start a month ago. I even saw a muscle imbalance with overhead presses even out to a good degree.

At this point, the scale is messing with my motivation and making me doubt my diet as I have gained 10 lbs in a month and over the last couple weeks the 194 weight has not budged. I am not sure how much of this is muscle gain, water retention, or something is loose with my diet.

Has anyone run into this, what would you suggest? Cut more calories? Too much sodium? Cut the creatine? Bump up the cardio? Stay patient, it takes a month or for the body to adjust?
Any insight is appreciated, I am up for the grind, but feels like I a grinding in the dark when I don't see even a pound down during the time so far.

Food scale Olive oil help?

I recently bought bout a food scale by greatergoods it is a useful tool. However, am I measuring olive oil the right way?

I currently sit a measuring cup on the scale then I press the setting that only measures what im about to pour.

15ml of Oil is supposed to be one tablespoon.

My issue 15ml looks like so much it can not possibly be one Tbsp. The scale does not start counting until I keep pouring a little chunk in then it goes up.

Im very worried about this one Tbsp of olive oil is 120 calories. So am I measuring the oil right? I read online you should not use a food scale for liquids.

Side note: The scale measures Grams, ml and ounces it also measures pounds pretty much any weight measurement it has.
