Does gaining fat means I'm eating enough calories for maximum muscle growth?

So my question is, if I'm in the process of gaining fat, does that mean that I'm eating enough (or more than enough) calories for maximum muscle building (assuming my protein consumption is sufficient)? I don't want to leave any gains on the table, but also don't want to get fat needlessly. My logic is that if my body is storing excess calories as fat, then that means that it has more than enough calories required to do all of the muscle building that it wants to. Am I wrong?

The one pic is me at 162lbs and 9.8% bf on 6/20/2020. The other pic is today (8/31/2020) 12ish pounds heavier after tons of eating and 2 months of strength training (compound lifts using a push, pull, legs split). I'm eating an obnoxious amount of protein, taking creatine, and a few other science-backed health supplements.

As for my background, I'm 35 and am super pumped to be on my muscle building journey. I have always been skinny/skinny fat due to my running habit and lack of a serious consistent strength training regimen. I want to add ~20 pounds of muscle over the next 18 to 24 months. I'm 6'1".

Thanks in advance.

Cutting calories, good or bad idea?

Hi guy's

I need some advice, I'm currently pretty much finished bulking up but I still want to gain muscle and lose fat as, my body fat is around 20% so calorie wise I was thinking of stick to clean 1500-2000 calories a day.

The only problem is will I lose muscle in the process? I'll still be taking high amounts of protein etc.

If anyone can point me in the right direction? It worries me if I lower my calories I might lose muscle, I'm currently not working so mainly I stay at home and gym is the only exercise I am getting.

Will This Diet Build Muscle

Hey, i've just started a couple of weeks ago in working out (currently at home as my states in lockdown) and i'm really confused by the nutrition side so i thought i'd ask here

So i'm 19 and 6'2 and about 73kg (160 pounds) i'm looking to put on lean muscle with minimal fat but from what i understand its inevitable to put on fat when building muscle but you can minimise it.

so ill use today as an example..

Breakfast 9am - 4 free ranged eggs

Lunch - Eye fillet steak and salad

Dinner - Chicken breast pasta and salad

Protein Shake 2 scoops of whey and water

would this diet along with a excercise plan allow me to gain muscle? is it too little or too much? any feedback or tweaks would be greatly appreciated!

Clean and dirty foods

Hi, I’ve got a question. This is quite a long post so bare with me.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to loose weight properly which is a lot harder then I expected. I’m either 6’1 or 6’3 can’t remember lol let’s say 6’2 I weigh 205lb. I’ve had all different maintenance calorie quotes from multiple sites which just confuses me further, the number that I get the most is around 3000 give or take. So what I’ve noticed which is really confusing is if I eat clean I find it hard to eat maintenance and I end up so full and bloated and start putting on weight, but if I throw in dirty foods I can eat over 4000kls easy with pizza Pringles etc and weight will stay around the same why is that?

Secondly with creating a deficit when I bring my calories down to 2500 and below I literally feel my body slowing i.e digestion and start to feel bloated and flabby and the lower I go the more I feel like that, however when I’m eating around maintenance (3000) and above with some dirty foods thrown in I find my metabolism Rev right up to the point I’m crapping twice a day, like il eat and literally have to go toilet within half hour. It’s so confusing. When I cut calories down and eat majority clean I don’t feel hungry but my body looks and feels sluggish, it don’t feel like my body is burning fat, in the last couple weeks I’ve been eating around maintenance give or take a hundred calories either way and working out, and with this level of eating I’ve actually looked in the mirror and for the first time I looked how I wanted, I looked defined and stomach looked slimmer and just overall better, that lasted a day lol. When I eat a diet of health foods (rice chicken breast veg etc) and throw abit of dirty foods in and eat up to my so called maintenance cals my body revs up I even feel my tempature rise, one thing id like to mention for the last two weeks I’ve been eating around 3000kls, some days maybe 2700 some days 3200 and what normally happens is il go to bed and weigh about 206-207 and wake up back at 205, yesterday I ate 4200 kls and my weight remained the same the next day, I went sleep at 206.6 and woke up at 206.4 (bare in mind that’s dirty calories not a clean 4200kls)

Also I measure my stomach and it’s normally 37-37.5 inches round and have noticed even when I eat low calories like 2500 below it remains the same and has even sometimes gone up to 38 inches, and I think a week or two ago eating around 3000kls my waist measured 36. It’s like the less I eat the slower my metabolism works and the more stuffed I feel then I start eating more and boom my metabolism kicks off and il eat more food and still be hungry,

Could my maintenance be a lot higher then I think and when I eat below2500 my body starts slowing going into preservation mode or something, and when I’m at 3000 I’m actually at a deficit thinking I’m at maintenance?

But then the confusing part is about eating clean foods filling me up and putting on weight at like 2400k, it’s so weird and confusing but I’m determined to reach my goals so I’m using my body as a test subject to figure this out, any input on what could be going on is appreciated.

[WTA] Should i be worried?

Hi guys,

Its me again. It has been 2 month straight since i try to bulk with calorie surplus at about 200-300 cal.

I calculate somewhere on website state that my TDEE is about 1800-1900. So i just increase merely 200-300 cal and been hitting about 2200-2400 calorie perday.

My marco, for protein is about +- 120gm which i follow 0.8gm per lbs bodyweight. Carb and fat i did not count.

25/6/2020 my weight is 126lb, 25/7/2020 is 132lb, 25/8/2020 is 136lb. Im 5'7" tall.

Currenly been doing Viking's fullbody workout.

My diet mostly like below

Breakfast
Coffee, Chocolate Bread (like twinkie or something) / Peanut Butter + Bread / Fried Rice / Eggs

Lunch
White Rice 1cup, 200-150gm chicken breast, vege

Snack 1
Milk, Bread

Dinner
White Rice 2cup, 150gm chicken breast, vege, egg

Snack 2
2-3 Scramble egg, Beef patty

Snack 3
White Rice

Supper
Protein Shake, Chocolate Bread / Peanut Butter + Bread

My concern is, my stomach is getting bigger. Lol. Previously im a fairly skinny and lean guy. Why the fat did not spread evenly?

I don't mind if the fat at my arm shoulder or the rest of the body. But now mostly they will focus at the stomach.

Is this normal while bulking? Or i should do something in my diet?

Thanks all.
