Is eating bad food ACTUALLY bad for you?

I'm not talking about body weight, i'm talking about general health.
Just wanted some opinions.

Does eating a diet high in refined sugars, "bad fats" e.g trans fats, preservetives, artificial sweetners and so on and so forth, does it actually impact overall general health, ageing, hormonal function and so on and so forth?

Or is the impact negligible and it's more down to genetics and other factors?
