Hey guys,
So after finishing a 5 month cut from 130 lbs to 91 lbs (at under 5 ft tall, I'm a super short man), I decided to start lean/slow bulking about 2 months ago. I started with around 2150 calories, and now have been eating close to 2400 calories per day. I get around 1.5g protein/lb body weight. In the last 2 months, I've put on about 4 lbs, but 2 lbs happened immediately when I started taking creatine about 6 weeks ago. So in reality, I've probably put on about 2 lbs of fat/muscle/food weight/whatever.
I am following a standard PPL routine (chest/shoulders/triceps, back/biceps, legs all 2x/week). My strength in most upper body exercises very slowly goes up week to week (typically I add 1-3 reps to my bench press or overhead press per week). For instance, I've gone from benching 110 lbs for 8 reps to 115 for 8 reps in 2 months. I am not new to lifting, I followed a super inconsistent bro split for several years, and built up some kind of muscle and strength in that time, but mostly just a bunch of fat. So I don't expect progress to be super fast like a beginner. However, I am just wondering if this seems like abnormally slow progress and weight gain for an intermediate, and if I should increase my calories. I am worried about getting fat again since my frame is so small, but I don't want to be going to the gym for nothing. Any advice is appreciated.
