Ik this sounds like a ridiculous question, but I was listening to the "Huberman Lab" podcast today & he made a confusing point. It's an otherwise fascinating discussion & I highly suggest any science nerds on here to check it out, but he talks about the benefits of nasal breathing and how we should always be breathing through our noses except for "eating & talking". He also added that intense exercise may require mouth breathing. Extremely strenuous exercise makes a lot of sense, and I do believe it's ideal to breathe through the nose and mouth before talking.
Eating while mouth-breathing, on the other hand, makes no sense to me at all. How the Hell do you mouth-breathe & eat at the same time without chewing with your mouth wide open, not tasting your food, or fuking choking to death by sending your food into your airway? Am I missing something? I suppose he could mean you inhale through your mouth immediately before you take a bite of food...but even hat still seems really weird to me.
