Cheat Day? Cheat Meal?

I’ve heard many of successful youtubers and other athletes and fitness gurus alike claim they have a cheat meal once a week where they eat whatever they want.

I’m not 100% understanding this..
Do they budget the calories they’re going to ingest for that said cheat meal into their daily intake for that day?
Does it throw off an entire week of on point eating and exercise?
I just don’t see how budgeting the calories would be smart, being that a cheat meal for me would be I’m guessing around >2000cal? Doesn’t make sense to starve a whole day just to smash a triple meat from Whataburger 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyways, any comments, questions, or concerns are greatly welcomed people.
