I’m 19, weigh 165 lbs and am 5’11. I want to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. If I eat in a small caloric deficit, lift 6 days a week (push/pull/legs split), and consume 200g of protein per day, will my body still put on muscle, burning my fat to makeup for the caloric deficit?
I’ve heard many times that a caloric surplus is needed to gain weight/muscle. I’m thinking that with sufficient protein intake paired with a caloric deficit, my body would partially fuel itself by burning fat, whilst simultaneously building muscle. Has this approach been done before and is it worth me trying? Or would my body struggle with repairing my muscles, ultimately leading to prolonged muscle breakdown?
