The ban on international flights has made worse the issue, with manufacturers struggling to lift sensors, chips and controllers from suppliers in China. India is a big importer of electronics due to the absence of a homegrown industry. Efforts to build local semiconductor fabrication facilities over the last two decades have been lacklustre due to high costs and a lack of stable policy.
