Can you drink too much water? Water retention

I THINK that I may be drinking too much water, and getting too little sodium. I have kept high water intake and lowered sodium to avoid water retention for a long time, however, now I think I may have been retaining water as a consequence of that. Because last night I tried drinking a glass of water with pink Himalayan salt and the water retention actually disappeared this morning and my appearance looked much better.

So, is this a thing? Because I have always thought that you couldn't drink too much water, and at least not retain water from too little sodium? The sodium actually relieved the water retention in my case.
