I know it's generally accepted that children love sweeter foods & that adults develop a more "refined" palate. I also know elderly people begin to lose a sense of taste so they gravitate to saltier and bitter foods. That being said, I've always enjoyed "fine dining" & continue to like the majority of foods I used to. I do, however, no longer enjoy certain sweet things that I loved as a kid. I used to regularly eat 4-5 donuts after school, but nowadays donuts tend to be too sweet for me to eat more than one or two and I crave them far less frequently. Is this due to simply having a different diet or actual changes in taste receptors do to the aging process?
