Wondering what kind of rows everyone here prefers?
I started out with Fierce 5 Novice (6 months), doing Pendlay rows. Moved onto the Eric Helms Novice Bodybuilding routine (5 months) where I did dumbbell rows. I liked the dumbbell rows a lot more because they didn't fatigue my lower back like the Pendlay rows did.
I'm 12 weeks into a new program where I'm doing bent over rows. I decided after 10 weeks to switch to Pendlay rows and found that I am considerably weaker with that lift. I can do 8 reps of 60kg (132lb) doing upright rows but could barely do a single at the same weight doing Pendlay rows. I'm thinking this is probably because my lower back is relatively weak, while my upper back is a lot stronger by comparison - does that make sense? I read somewhere that Pendlay rows should be heavier than BOR, but that's certainly not the case for me.
