Donated blood still weak days after

Hi all, just wanted to see if anyone else can relate or had a similar experience.
I've been donating blood every 4 months for 20 months (I've donated 5 times now). I have given 400mL each time. In my previous donations, I really did not have any side effects after. But this last time, I was light headed after giving blood. In the following days I've been markedly sluggish to the point I have little will or energy to workout. I tried doing a warm up 5k and was pooped. I've read some literature on the issue and some evidence shows that over time, with regular donations, your ferritin levels can drop even though your hemoglobin levels remain rather constant. I am now on day 4 since donating. Are there any regular blood donors that can relate?

For more details, I'm a male, 26, 6'2" (188cm), 211lb (96kg). I was regularly power lifting up to 3 months before my most recent donation. At that point, I switched to a running program in prep for a marathon. To illustrate the disparity in my condition, I ran a half marathon with ease one week before this last donation. Do iron supplements speed up recovery? I didn't know that blood donation could mess with my stamina so much! Maybe I need to skip a few donations to recover?

Lastly, its been like 8 years since I was last active on bodybuilding forums. Glad to see that the community is still energetic as always!
