Does long distance running burn muslce?

Is this a myth? is it purely calories in v out?

Usually i don't do long distance running but lately i've been going for long runs for my mental health.

I feel like i've lost muslce and look smaller. I put on ****s and they feel so lose on me. And also my pants. But strength in the gym hasn't declined. Maybe only a touch. I'm assuming its because im running so much i'm depleting my glycogen and its not actual muscle loss?
