Achalasia and nutrition

Hi folks,

I've been diagnosed with early onset of a disease called achalasia. This disease means that my vagus nerve had suffered damage and screwed up my esophagus's ability to push food into my stomach.

In the beginning I lost 30lbs in 30 days due to an intestinal ulcer and this thing going misdiagnosed as acid reflux for like a year and a half. It's been two years and a long road of doctors, tests, and surgeries to get to a place where I can eat without having every bite lodge itself into my airway -- albeit uncomfortably eating but still infinitely better.

I lifted for five years prior to the issue and want to get back into it.

I have a bitch of a time with eating a lot of food. The more full I am the more screwed up my swallow gets, so gorging myself like I used to is fairly dangerous.

I'm 37 and still have a metabolism like I did at 16. I used to have to consume 3500 calories / day to hold my weight at 155lbs -- I'm 5'6".

Now that eating is so damn difficult and a complete exercise in self torture I find it hard to ingest 2,000 calories a day. I also realize sitting on my ass isn't doing me favors and I need to get back in shape.

Any thoughts on how to eat enough calories to sustain mass without having to choke throughout the entire day?

I know shakes are going to be a good way of managing this but I want to make sure that I'm nutritionally balanced and not just pounding back a ton of sugar.

If anyone is a nutritionist that's reading this, feel free to message me to discuss rates and maybe schedule consultation.

Thanks for any advice. This **** sucks but it's time to get my ass back in the gym.
