Does changing sodium levels and water intake before a trip make a big difference in p

I'm not spring break age anymore but I am going for a beach trip in some time. I'm already in fair shape but an extra sharpness would be nice and I recently saw this video by Mike Israetel which intrigued me. The video recommendations were as follow:

1. "Double sodium, high water + low carbs diet" two weeks before a trip till the day off.

2. Initially causes bloating but the body adjusts to it in a week.

3. During trip have normal sodium levels in food. So even if you drink/have a lot of carbs, the body actually sheds more water since this is less sodium than it has become accustomed to over the last 2 weeks. Making you look more ripped rather than bloated which is what happens on these trips.

Has anyone tried this? And how long does the effect last - enough for a 1 week trip?
