How to eat enough calories while losing fat and exercising

Hi, sorry if a similar thread has been posted before, but I could use some advice regarding nutrition.

I'm a 27 years old female, 164cm and 110kg. It is a lot, but I have a great fat distribution (huge chest, big butt, narrow waist), so I am actually pretty flexible and do well in the gym. Most people guess I'm around 85kg. I'm saying that so you don't picture me as some kind of a boulder who has issues with basic movement.

To give you some background:

I started working out and eating better in July and have been quite successfully reshaping my body. I completely cut out sugary drinks, ordering takeout and junk food like potato chips etc. I stopped smoking weed and rarely drink alcohol anymore.
Instead I started eating a lot of vegetables and protein in a caloric deficit. I do mostly weight training in the gym, so while I'm losing fat, I've also been building up muscle and strength.

My gym routine 3-4x/week goes like this:

30 minutes treadmill
30-40 minutes exercise with my own weight
1-2 hours strength training depending on how much time I have (dumbbells, barbells, machines)
5-10 minutes light cardio

I alternate between lower body and upper body days while doing some abs and glutes exercise every time. Right now I can squat 35 kg, deadlift 70 kg and leg press 140 kg.

Now, the issue I have:
Most calorie intake calculators tell me I should eat around 2600kcal/day and that's including the deficit for fat loss.
Yesterday I after gym I was super hungry so I let myself go and ate quite a lot of food: avocado toast, 4 eggs, smoothie, turkey ham, watermelon, a cup of cream cheese and a few of those "fake bread" puffy corn slices. I even threw in a scoop of ice cream after a long time. I felt guilty so I downloaded a calorie counting app and entered in all the food. It totaled at about 1500kcal, give or take.

I was stuffed after eating all that. It doesn't help that I've recently moved to a very hot tropical country, so my appetite has gone down even more.

My question is, is it okay to eat so "little" while I exercise the way I do? Would eating 1500kcal (sometimes I do even less) a day hurt my progress or do I have enough fat to "absorb" it? If not, what should I eat to fulfill my caloric needs and not feel like I've eaten a horse?

My goal is to get fit and strong enough to excel at a combat sport. I travel solo a lot and would like to visit some "dangerous" countries, so being able to defend myself would help a lot.

I'd welcome any advice in general! I'm probably doing a lot of things incorrectly as I've just started and am still trying to navigate my way through a healthier lifestyle.

Last year I was aiming 1760kcal & 170g protein and had good results for the two seasons I worked out. It wasn't too convenient hitting protein from whole foods but whether it was optimal compared to 140g is anyone's guess. I suppose an extra scoop of powder would be easier. I'm already having two scoops (24g each). Anyway, I unfortunately pigged out in the third season and dropped gym completely.

To revise this year, how's the above look to you and how much protein, kcals should I go for?

So glad I’ve found this, need some life changing advice

Hi guys,

So when I was about 23, I caught Malaria in China(now 40). Since then, I have always been very dehydrated, suffered massively from pressure headaches, shortness of breath, blocked airways and get aches in my joints a lot. I do drink lots of water and electrolytes but nothing helped.

Recently(three days), I started cutting out bread, rice, basically any carbs in the morning and lunch, except for a few veg. Since I’ve been doing this, my body has literally started to feel as if it is deflating, my airways are opening up and I’m able to breath properly again.

To test this and rule out a gluten allergy, I had some fries with my chicken the other day, and all my symptoms kicked in again. So it’s not a gluten allergy. I also had a couple of pints of cider to see if that did anything, and if anything I feel it helped 😂

My question is, what is it that I’m allergic to. Surely I can’t be allergic to all carbs (potatoes, rice and bread)..? Do these three things have an ingredient in common? Why did the cider help?

Please excuse the long post but this, if I get it right will change my life. I feel it’s something to do with starch but I could be very wrong

Dear Guys,
I have a problem. I used to weigh 76kg with good muscle size. But all of a sudden i had a stomach issue and couldnt work out for 3 months. And I lost all the muscle. My weight went down to 69kg. I used to take one scoop of lean whey and i scoop of carbs when i was 76kg. So when i started to workout again I am stuck at 69kg. I cannot increase the size and cannot build the same amout of muscle I had when I was 76kg. I tried taking two scoops of whey and two scoops of carbs and that didnt work either. Then I tried using 4 scoops of whey just by itself and that didnt work either. I dont want to take mass gainer because it makes me fat and stomach comes out. So guys what should i be doing here? What supplement should i be taking?

Hello,

i am trying to gain weight.

Eating much is very hard for me so I tried to use a Weight Gainer which worked out pretty good (gained 6kg in 1 Month).

It had 900 calories. After drinking it I always felt very bad for around 2 hours.

That’s why I gave up on it and thought, I could do the same by eating more. Now the problem is, I can’t gain any weight through eating alone and weight gainer is very expensive. Should I continue taking the Weight gainer or is there anything else that I could do?

Is there any problem with protein powder being a primary protein source?

Hello,

I've been doing some research on this, and can't find anything about getting a majority of protein from protein powder. Most of the stuff I find is related to eating ONLY protein powder (as a meal replacement), which clearly isn't a balanced diet.

I'm a relatively picky eater... And I'm able to get a good amount of protein from alternative sources (the only meat I eat is chicken, but I've been getting sick of eating lots of it it). I know there are other ways to get protein, through plans, eggs and stuff. However, I've recently been experimenting with using protein powder in my cooking for things such as protein pancakes, protein desserts, overnight oats, etc... I'm quite happy with the results, however I'm aware that there isn't much variety in the source of protein since they all come from protein powder. While I do mix in things like eggs, chic pea pastas, and chicken throughout the days, I've come to realize that more than 60-70% of my protein intake is coming from these protein powder based meals I've been experimenting with. I know I'm strictly speaking about protein in this post, but for the sake of my question, lets assume the rest of my diet is mostly well balanced (I eat my veggies, and am getting carbs through other sources such as oats/pastas).

So to the point, is there anything wrong with such a high percentage of my protein coming from protein powders? If not, is there any harm in increasing these protein powder based meals?

Abbott India Limited, through a letter dated August 18, intimated to DCGI regarding voluntary product recall of all batches of Digene Gel of all flavours (mint, orange, mix fruits flavour) which are within the shelf life and manufactured at Goa facility. "The impugned product may be unsafe and its use may result in adverse reaction," the DCGI letter dated August 31 said.
